The Skyliner is an airport limited express on which all seats are reserved. To ride it, you need a Skyliner ticket (liner ticket) in addition to a basic fare ticket.

How the 4 booking methods differ

The official Keisei Electric Railway website lists the following 4 ways to reserve and buy a Skyliner ticket.

A basic fare ticket is required separately

The ticketless service is a service for buying a "reserved seat ticket". You need a basic fare ticket separately to ride. PASMO, Suica and commuter passes can be used as the basic fare ticket.

When you can book the Skyliner

The period when you can reserve and buy differs by method.

Booking on the day

With the ticketless service, you can buy until 1 minute before the scheduled departure time. Even if the train is delayed, you cannot buy once it is less than 1 minute before the scheduled departure time.

How to book online (ticketless service)

You can buy with or without registering as a member

The Skyliner Internet Reservation Service can be used without registering as a member. If you register, you can use it next time just by logging in, and you can also register favorite sections and use the Open Ticket.

Rules when buying

• You can buy up to 8 seats at a time.
• You can choose your seat with the "Select from seat map" button. When several people travel together, you cannot choose seats across different cars.
• The number of seats available online for each train is limited, so even if you cannot buy online, you may be able to buy at a station ticket counter or ticket machine.

Show the net liner ticket on your screen when you ride

Sit in the assigned seat on the train you bought. If station staff or crew ask to see your ticket, display the net liner ticket from the URL in the purchase completion email or from the purchase history page.

• You cannot ride with a printout of a computer screen.
• Liner tickets bought with the ticketless service cannot be exchanged for physical tickets at station ticket counters or ticket machines.

Open Ticket

A service for paying in advance when your boarding date is decided but your boarding time is not. You reserve a Skyliner after arriving at the station. If you do not make a reservation on that boarding date, the amount is refunded from the following day onward. It is available if you register as a member.

Booking with face recognition (Face Check in Go)

This is the way to buy with Skyliner e-ticket and ride by passing through the ticket gate with face recognition.

Skyliner e-ticket and Face Check in Go

Skyliner e-ticket is a service for buying discounted Skyliner tickets and more online. If you register your face after buying, you can use Face Check in Go (boarding by face recognition).

Stations where it can be used

Face Check in Go can be used only at Keisei Ueno, Nippori, Airport Terminal 2·3 and Narita Airport stations. It cannot be used on the Evening Liner or Morning Liner.

Steps to board

1. After buying and paying on the Skyliner e-ticket site, register your face with the camera of your smartphone or other device (the representative only).
2. Scan your face on the tablet at a "Face Check in Go" ticket gate at your boarding station. At Nippori Station, only the North Gate (Gate A) is supported.
3. Tickets for everyone in your group come out of the ticket machine. Companions pass through the gate together after the representative.
4. Sit in the assigned seat on the Skyliner shown on the ticket.
5. At your destination station, exit through the staffed counter. Automatic ticket gates cannot be used.

The train and seats assigned

• The Skyliner departing next from your boarding station is assigned (except when it is full). Within 2 minutes of departure, the following train is assigned.
• You cannot choose your seat. When several people ride on the same booking, seats are assigned next to each other.
• If you want to choose your own seat or ride a train other than the next one, bring your exchange number or exchange QR code to the counter.

• Stations where the Skyliner stops (Keisei Ueno, Nippori, Aoto, Shin-Kamagaya, Airport Terminal 2·3, Narita Airport)
• Keisei Travel offices
• Major travel agencies such as Kinki Nippon Tourist, Nippon Travel Agency, Keio Kanko, Tobu Top Tours, Meitetsu Kanko and Hankyu Travel

Some Skyliner trains stop at Aoto and Shin-Kamagaya stations. Some travel agencies may charge their own fee when you buy advance tickets. Various credit cards can be used to buy Skyliner tickets.

Booking by phone

The deadline for collecting reserved seats depends on the day you reserved.

If you do not collect your ticket by the deadline, the reservation is automatically canceled.

Can you ride the Skyliner without a reservation?

Here are the rules when you ride without a Skyliner ticket.

All seats are reserved

All seats on the Skyliner are reserved. If you ride without a Skyliner ticket, 300 yen for adults or 150 yen for children is added to the Skyliner limited express charge.

You may be able to buy at a station even if you cannot buy online

The Internet Reservation Service limits the number of seats available for each train. Even if you cannot buy online, you may be able to buy at a station ticket counter or ticket machine.

Refunds with the ticketless service

• Refunds are possible until the scheduled departure time of the train.
• The refund fee is 100 yen per seat.
• If you could not use the ticket because of a delay on another railway, an airplane or other transport, no refund is given.
• If the train is canceled, you will receive an email from the following day onward about a refund with no fee.

Changing or canceling a Skyliner e-ticket

To change the boarding date, the number of people (when increasing) or the section, cancel the purchase from the purchase details page and buy again. No refund is given after the validity period has passed.

An airport limited express between Keisei Ueno and Narita Airport

The Skyliner is an airport limited express running between Keisei Ueno Station and Narita Airport Station. It runs via the Narita Sky Access Line at 160 km/h, the fastest speed of any conventional line in Japan. The fastest trip from Nippori Station to Airport Terminal 2·3 Station takes 36 minutes.

On-board facilities

• Seat pitch 1,050 mm, seat width 470 mm
• AC power outlets at the base of every seat
• Wireless LAN service
• Space for large luggage between the cabin and the deck
